The Future of Cloud Hosting & Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing is probably the key trend in information technology creation, delivery and consumption.  Cloud Hosting is making big inroads into many services traditionally handled locally by in-house web servers, from products such as Microsoft 365 to innumerable start-up cloud hosted apps which are benefiting from economies of scale, low start up costs, broad reach, a global market and a hassle free way to have access to world class technology without strong in house IT support or a huge budget.

A key driver of cloud computing uptake is low barriers to entry and overall cost.  What might cost $20K for hardware and thousands of dollars in tech support and licenses annually may now be accessible for tens of dollars a month, instead of thousands, often with a free trial and also a lot more options for smaller businesses which wouldn’t have traditionally even considered some of the more powerful and complex solutions until cloud technology made them available at a competitive price.
